This book is more about feel good stories of people who started a
business and they liked what they were doing. If you liked Chicken Soup
for the Soul, you will probably like this. I was looking for a book to
give some ideas of what good businesses someone could do part-time and
make some extra money. These stories covered various set up costs and
barely gave an idea of what is needed. The book basically sums up to
be: Find out what you like and make a plan. If you already figured
that out, don't buy the book.

Has your search for a home business led you to claims like these?
MAKE MONEY WHILE YOU SLEEP!!!!
I MAKE $10,000 A WEEK WATCHING SOAP OPERAS!!!!
Or, on the other end of the spectrum, home business experts will tell
you that to be successful, you must sacrifice everything for the sake of
your business, and concentrate all your energy on the business. Do
this or you're doomed to failure. "There must be some middle ground",
you think, "something for a woman who wants to stay home with her
children, but still make some money."
If this describes your search, the "Stay at Home Moms' Guide to Making
Money - How to Create the Business That's Right for You Using the Skills
and Interests You Already Have" by Liz Folger is what you've been
looking for. This book is written for the woman who puts her children
first, and is dedicated to her role as mother, but would still like to
work from home. Liz Folger guides you through the process of finding a
business, getting started, and dealing with the challenges of combining
business and family. She then goes on to profile 29 moms and their home
businesses. Reading these profiles is like sitting down for coffee and
a chat with a girlfriend. The moms are honest about the mistakes
they've made along the way, and they also tell how they manage to "do it
all."
No, it's not easy, and it's not for everyone. But if you're thinking
about working from home while raising your own children, "The Stay at
Home Moms' Guide to Making Money" is an excellent place to start.

I have to say that this book has excellent advice for all moms,
including those with college educations. I personally have a degree with
a double major in math and computer science, and I worked as an
engineer for over 10 years (away from home.) I found the advice in
Liz's book very helpful. I have since chosen to pursue a different
career for my home-based business, but I also know many engineers,
doctors, lawyers, etc. who are working at home ... many of these
professional women were also interviewed in Liz's book. Whether you
wish to bring your current career home or make some changes, if you
want to work at home, the advice in this book will help you.
